Book Review: Surprised by Laughter

Terry Lindvall has categorized the joy and laughter that C.S. Lewis enjoyed in his Christan life.  the book is divided into 6 parts; The Idea and the Legacy, Joy, Fun, The Joke Proper, Satire and Flippancy, and a Conclusion.  He shares many quotes by Chesterton, who was a great influence on Lewis, and by Lewis, from private writings and his books.  You will learn more about Lewis's sense of humor as you read through the book and may be inspired to view your own Christan walk differently.

I really wanted to love this book but I only made it halfway through before I had to set it aside.  I loved all of the quotes by Lewis but wanted more of Lewis and less of Chesterton.  This book reads more like a philosophy text to me.  I was looking for something a little more humorous and less heavy.  It did inspire thought about my own Christian walk and the realization that I need to lighten up and find the joy in everyday life.  I am grateful for my new viewpoint and I do plan to make my was slowly through the rest of the book.  I give this book 3 stars.

I received a free copy of this book from Booksneeze and have shared my honest opinion.

I'm on page 173...definitely not light reading!! I am enjoying it however; once I got past the fact that it wasn't what I thought it was going to be.
My review will be a little while in coming still ;) Determined to finish it, I am. *yes, that's Yoda-speak*

(just a side note, the word verification for my comment is "losingla" LOL just seemed funny to me!)
