We went to our favorite bargain thrift store the other day and as usual I found a bunch of children's books. As we were walking up to the register I began to worry that my total would be close to $20.00. I hadn't meant to get so many books. My husband also let each of the children choose a toy. And we found 4 mugs, a basket, and a shirt. We had 95 books! Our total was $11.00. They charged only $8.00 but my husband threw in some extra. Here's the crate full of books.
A bunch of Magic School Bus books for the science shelf.
A few books for my 13 year old.
Books to add to the fun shelf.
Workbooks to use with my preschool and kindergarten students.
A lot of science books!
Beginning readers to encourage the 5 year old to learn to read this year.
Bible storybooks and inspirational books. These will go on the literature shelf.
My younger peeps love the Berenstain Bears and were happy to find some on the shelves at the thrift store. I should put them all together in a basket or on a shelf.
A few books for the history shelf. I also had a bunch of picture books and easy chapter books for the fun shelf. Oh, and two books for me.
I let each child choose a book to add to our reading shelves and then I put the rest away in the crate. It is my bookstore. We will add a book from each category every month to help my children stay excited about finding a good book to read.
And here is my fail. I was so excited to see a Nativity set at Goodwill(I've been looking for one in my budget for 2 years!) that I didn't look closely enough at the set to realize what was missing.
Now I have to search for a baby Jesus, Joseph, and a wise man.
Have you found any good bargains lately?
How cool, I get to link up to Mrs. Taffy's Garage Sale Treasures! Go on over for a visit and share any treasures you have found this week.
