Gardern Mysteries Solved, Well Some of Them

I planted some flower seeds this year and as usual I didn't mark what went where or even write down what I planted.  I thought I only planted flowers behind the house but four plants came up that look similar to garden plants.  They have small white flowers which last for a day.

Unsolved vine mystery

I watched this plant come up and wondered what it could be and hoped it wasn't a weed.  It's a California poppy, I think.  Nice!

Please excuse the weeds which are surrounding this little plant.

I planted shasta daisies because they are one of my favorite, easy to grow perennials after I was unable to find plants locally.  I hope that is what is coming up in the picture below.  Please, please, please!

Now where did all the sunflowers I planted go?

There are only about four little plants left.  I solved this mystery when I inspected the weeds the children had pulled up for me, whoops!  They were helping though.  I bribe them with computer time for each big bucket of weeds they pull.  It's a great way to get some work out of them without any complaints.

Um, this is really gross and the only thing mysterious is whether the poor animal really was a squirrel or not.  Our cat caught and ate most of a squirrel.  My husband removed the carcass after the cat stopped eating it but the cat brought it back and then the puppy helped him finish it off.  Now puppy thinks it makes a fun chew toy to run around with.  Our cat is supposed to be an inside cat but he has decided he needs to be a great hunter when he's not laying around the house being lazy.

I'm sorry I really shouldn't have included that last photo!

How is your garden growing?
