#1- A gardener. My husband did just weed a flower bed for me this morning and the children have been helping out each morning. I hurt my back again while weeding earlier this week and I have vowed to get stronger. It is very difficult for me to direct my helpers and not get to work with them. I should bring a book out to read to them while they work so I won't be tempted to do anything.
#2- Fruit trees and berries. I want to add any kind of fruit that will grow in this area. I need to do some research to find out what we can grow here. I have made room for some berries, I just need to buy them and have someone plant them for me. I am intimidated by the idea of planting fruit trees. It is such a large investment to make in something that I may allow to die. I have read a few books on growing fruit but I don't have any confidence in my abilities yet. I will start with berries and work up to a tree.

#3- A bunch of perennials to plant out front. Anything that will grow in the shade and looks interesting, preferably with flowers. I want hostas around the trees with ground covers in the shade. I would like some roses in the sunny spots out front and a few more in the back flower garden. I hope we can add a lot of organic matter to the beds out front over this summer so I will be able to plant something next year. The soil is in pretty bad shape and only wants to grow weeds right now.

#4- Books to add to my gardening shelf. I am always learning about gardening and how to do a better job with what I have. The only book available at my local library is the children's book but I would like to own that one anyway.
What have you been wishing to add to your garden?
