Sewing Plans, Knitting Woes, and Quilting Habit Failure

I was having one of those too many things to do with too little time days.  I made myself exercise and then headed out to the sewing area to work for 15 minutes.  I've finally finished all of the birthday gifts I was working on and now I'm going to make something just for fun.  I found this pattern for a patchwork scottie dog last December and I think I will sew it up.  Here are the colors I might be working with.

I have all of the green squares already cut to size from another project.  The dog takes 54 squares so if I only have to cut half of those out I will be much happier.  I don't know why I only have 3 purple pieces of fabric since it is one of my favorite colors.  I'll have to fix that problem soon!

I started to knit a cable scarf but I can't get past casting on the yarn.  My brain refuses to understand the directions.  I will give it one more try and then choose a different project.  If you have any suggestions let me know!  I'm not sure I want to knit another scarf anyway.  I haven't used the first one I made very much.  I guess I'm not really a scarf girl.  I don't want to knit another washcloth to use as a potholder either.  I need to find a small project since I'm still a beginner and I don't want to mess up a big one or buy a lot of yarn.

I finished quilting a square in my king sized quilt, hooped up the next square but still haven't marked it so I can start working on it.  I haven't quilted for over two weeks.  Funny how I wonder why the quilt isn't finished after more than 10 years of quilting!

Do you have anything crafty going on at your house?  Wanna share?
