Bible Felt Stories for Sundays

I'm putting together a new felt story each week to use on Sunday.  We started with creation and will go in order.  I hope this will help my children remember each story.

I need to make a larger board.

I will read the story from our Bible or Children's Bible and then have them help me retell it as I place the felts on the board.  Then they can take turns telling the story as they place the pieces on the felt board.

I used a cookie cutter for the stars.

As my four year old was retelling the story he came up with lots of questions which we discussed.  I was surprised at how many details he remembered.

After I drew the birds and fish my creativity was used up.

He really enjoyed having me listen as he told me what was going on in each picture he set up.  I could see how hard he was concentrating on his task.

So I went to makingfriends.com for the animals and people.

I think having something physical to work with brings the story to life for my little ones.  They feel more involved in the story as they act it out with the felt board.  All of my children listened as I read the story from the Bible and the older ones even had a question or two so it made a nice family activity.

This is a simple way to make our Sundays seem extra special.

I submitted this article to Mrs. White to be included in her new weekly magazine, The Christian Home.  She is looking for other blog writers so if you are interested please click on the link below.
