Monthly Veggie Garden Update

I took lots of pictures this time. The garden is growing well! Here are the sunflowers and hollyhocks I planted in front of the chicken yard.

A view of the new beds we put in and planted. I planted about two weeks ago and lots of seedlings are coming up.

A different view with the sunflowers in the shot so you can see how the gardens are laid out.

The compost bins. The smaller pile was damaged by some people who didn't realize I had planted there so I had to replant. I don't think it is holding as much water as the taller pile so that is slowing plant growth.

This is how the garden looks from the back corner where the compost bins are.

The other end of the veggie beds. I think the corn should be taller by now. I planted using square foot gardening spacing and I think it is a little too close together for the corn. I planted two more beds of corn in the new area and set them a bit further apart so I'll be able to tell if that might be the problem.

Again. Now you can see a corner of the grape arbor to the left. I will add a few more beds in the front and then the herb garden when we get some more compost. The new beds were built with three(I think) yards of compost. We will need about two more to finish this area. I'm still trying to figure out how to lay out the herb bed. I want a water feature in the middle and a path through it that leads to the grape arbor. I am planning a sitting area under the arbor with some shade beds along the sides.

You can visit the garden in May and June to see how it has changed if you like.
