Elijah wanted to plant a sunflower house. So we spread some potting soil in an unused spot and planted tall and short sunflowers along with some morning glories. Hopefully they will sprout soon. I found out later that when he said sunflower house he didn't mean a playhouse grown from sunflowers but a greenhouse with sunflowers growing in it. No wonder he looked puzzled when I explained how we would make it.
I had lots of space left in the sunny flower border so I planted some herbs. This is basil. I also planted carrots along the edge.
Here are some strawberries among the flowers.
I have cilantro in the middle of this bed. Parsley, thyme, and more carrots are also in here.
And here is the view from our living room. The crepe myrtle is starting to flower. I think some purple and white daylilies would look so pretty next to it.
We like being able to look out the sliding glass doors to see what the chickens are doing. It is nice to look out and see the results of all of our hard work.
Now that this area is doing well and mostly finished I will get back to work on the front gardens. There is a lot of grass growing in the front beds so I get discouraged.
